Can I install a pool table on any floor?

A question we get a lot is whether a pool table can be delivered and set up on an upper floor or in the attic. First and foremost, it is important to distinguish between how a pool table with an MDF playing surface and a pool table with a slate playing surface are delivered.

How we deliver a pool table with an MDF playing surface

A pool table with an MDF playing surface is delivered almost 80% pre-assembled. This means you always have to take the size of the top section of the pool table into account. To give you an idea, a pool table with an MDF playing surface that we sell a lot of is the North Gardone 7FT pool table or the North Gardone 8FT pool table. We deliver these tables in one box, and this is the case for all pool tables with an MDF playing surface. The top of the pool table is fully pre-assembled and the complete base lies disassembled in the underside of the pool table, together with the accessories. After delivery, you can always take the accessories and the base out of the box to reduce its weight, so that you are left with a top section of approx. 60 to 90 kg to bring to the desired room in the house.

“The average dimensions of the top section of a 7ft pool table are L 215 cm x W 120 x H 22 cm”

“The average dimensions of the top section of a 8ft pool table are L 248 cm x W 136 x H 22 cm”

So always bear in mind that the top section of the pool table has to be moved in one piece. Straight passages, a straight staircase or a doorway are certainly not a problem, but do watch out for bends in a staircase or, for example, the size of an attic hatch.

We always deliver pool tables with an MDF playing surface without installation, because the installation is very easy. You only have to assemble the base and level it by screwing the feet in or out.

How we deliver a pool table with a slate playing surface

A pool table with a slate playing surface is easier to install on most floors. This is because the table still has to be built up completely on site. You usually get several packages with the frame and the legs, and 3 slates. Below, for example, are the boxes and slabs of a pool table with a slate playing surface, the Buffalo Eliminator 7FT pool table. This means you can almost always get it onto most floors. With a table with a slate playing surface, however, you need to bear in mind that you usually have to order the professional installation as well. This is because the cushions often still have to be covered, the slates still have to be laid level and the cloth still has to be glued or stapled. With a slate table with a one-piece slate, it would still be possible to install it yourself, but few pool tables are available with a playing surface made of a single slate, because this has the drawback that a one-piece slate is difficult to get into every room or onto every floor.

“We deliver a slate pool table in several boxes and usually 3 slates, which means it can be installed on all floors”

If you order a pool table with a slate playing surface, please bear in mind that we deliver all the boxes and slabs a few days before the installation, and that you will then need to bring these boxes and slabs to the desired floor. Our professional installers then come by a few days after the delivery to carry out the installation.
